The 2nd World Local Production Forum is being held in the Netherlands from 6-8 November. The forum will include high level participation from diverse sectors, including government, international organizations, finance institutions, private sector, civil societies, and academia.

Ahead of this conference, a group of civil society has written an open letter to the participants of the forum entitled ‘Building a Bridge to Nowhere: Promoting Local Production without Addressing Intellectual Property’ to ensure that initiatives to support local/regional production address the legal right and means to overcome Intellectual Property (IP) barriers.

The open letter, which stresses that local production, without addressing IP barriers head-on, cannot work, will be shared throughout the forum to encourage more discussions on this crucial point and has already received sign-on from 29 Civil Society and Community organizations.
